Welcome to the new Soccermetrics Research site

If you are able to read this post, you are viewing the new Soccermetrics Research website.

We’ve completed the transition from a simple blog to a corporate website with separate features and content that highlight our previous work and present our place in the world of soccer analytics.  We’ll add new features in the near future, such as separate pages for the CONCACAF club/league coefficients and the soccer Pythagorean tables, past issues of the Soccermetrics newsletters, and selected essays that present my views on the current state of soccer analytics.  We finally have the functionality to permit comments at the end of each blog post, and in time we will add features to allow for closer integration of comments with Facebook and Twitter as well as social sharing of posts.

The other big event is that we’re changing our company’s name.  Slightly, to be sure, but it’s still a significant change.

Soccermetrics Research

Soccermetrics Research & Consulting, LLC is now Soccermetrics Research, LLC.  Since the beginning of the year, we started to see ourselves less as a consulting company with a limited number of clients and more as a software company that provides the data analytics infrastructure to a wide variety of end-users in the football industry.  We kept Research in the name because research is at the core of who we are.  We are all about understanding soccer from first principles.  We have earned our reputation in the soccer analytics community through the quality of our research, and we aim to apply those tools and results into the products that we provide for our customers.

Thanks to Matt for helping put the new site together in short order, and thanks to Brian Danin for his work on the other site.  I hope we’re able to work together again in the near future.
