Pythagorean table for 2011-12 German 1.Bundesliga (2011-10-19)

Below is the Pythagorean table for the 2011-12 German Fußball-Bundesliga season, for matches played up to 16 October 2011.  The standard league Pythagorean exponent of 1.70 is used.

Bayern Munich's 1-0 home loss to Borussia Mönchengladbach has been the difference in the Pythagorean residuals of both teams.  Bayern should be running away with the league.  Hannover are one of the big overachievers in the league so far (+4 Pythagorean residual), but in contrast to last season they are mid-table instead of fighting against relegation.  It's still early in the league as almost all of the teams are playing as well — or as poorly — as their goal records suggest.
