Pythagorean table for 2010-11 French Ligue 1 (2011-03-11)

Below is the Pythagorean table for the 2010-11 French Ligue 1, for matches played up to 11 March 2011.  The league Pythagorean exponent is 1.70.

Lille appear to be performing in line with their expectations, but Rennes have managed to cobble wins despite the lack of a consistent goalscorer.  As a result they have a Pythagorean residual of +4, which means that they are tied for first in Ligue 1 instead of fourth.  Montpellier has maintained their Pythagorean residual of +5 at the three-quarter mark, which is the highest in the league this season.  Sochaux, Valenciennes, and Monaco have remained the three most underperforming sides of the season.  It seems that Monaco and Valenciennes are failing to win matches that they should win.  Sochaux have problems chasing the game once they fall behind and taking charge of matches that are level in the second half.
