Final Pythagorean table for 2010-11 Turkish Süper Lig

Below is the final Pythagorean table for the 2010-11 Turkish Süper Lig which concluded today.  The Pythagorean league exponent is 1.70.

The new champions Fenerbahçe were the biggest surprise of the season with a +10 Pythagorean residual.  Their defensive record (goals allowed variance of 1.0) was not that great compared to champions from the other European leagues, but their offensive goal record was so huge that more often than not they would overpower their opponents.  Trabzonspor also had a great season but Fenerbahçe were on a higher plane.  Gaziantepspor also overperformed to a lesser degree, but enough to overtake Beşiktaş for a spot in the later rounds of the Europa League qualifiers.  Two of the three relegated sides, Konyaspor and Bucaspor, were the biggest underachievers of the season, but they would have gone down anyway.

I'd love to hear from my readers if that assessment is even remotely accurate.
