Final Pythagorean table for 2010-11 Spanish Primera Liga

Below is the final Pythagorean table for the 2010-11 Spanish Primera División which concluded today.  As always the Pythagorean league exponent is 1.70.

The Pythagorean table confirms the huge gap between Barcelona, Real Madrid and the rest of the league.  There is also a sizeable gap between Valencia and the Europa League representatives but not as large.  Espanyol, a team with a highly positive Pythagorean residual in the first half of the season, regressed to the mean in the second half.  The middle of the table was very tight with a further gap to the three relegated teams.  If anything, Deportivo were lucky not to have been relegated before the final matchday.
