Finally accepted to a conference

I was informed that my paper submission was accepted to the Northern California Symposium on Statistics and Operations Research in Sports (NCSSORS), to be held in the San Francisco area on 16 October.  The paper was actually accepted as a poster presentation, which doesn't carry quite the same prestige as an oral presentation but nevertheless gets me in the door and provides me with more networking opportunities.  I will present my work on the Pythagorean expectation for soccer with some extensions that I haven't presented on this site.

I haven't formally accepted the offer, but I'm almost certain to do so in the coming days.  There is a lot to work on such as completing my research, developing the poster layout, and figuring out how to pay for this trip.
