Off to NCSSORS

It's time for me to pack up my laptop along with my belongings and head to San Francisco (Menlo Park, actually) for NCSSORS — the Northern California Symposium on Statistics and Operations Research in Sports.  I will be presenting a poster on my work with the soccer Pythagorean estimation, and I will be one of just two soccer-related works at the conference.  I'm not sure what to expect, to be honest. NCSSORS is predominately a Big Four sports conference, and it is a much smaller conference than MIT's Sloan Sports Analytics Conference, but I'll try to approach it with an open mind.

I'll post some live updates from the conference on my Twitter feed (@socmetrics) and will write a fuller report when I return.  And of course, if you're attending the conference I look forward to meeting you.
