We are always looking for people who have skills that we think might be valuable to the company. We look at all CVs that are sent to us, and we are particularly interested if you have the following skills or experiences:
- Experienced data modeller with structured and networked data (implementers go to head of line!)
- Statistical Analyst expert in Statistical/Mathematical Modeling and/or Optimization
- Performance Analyst with previous experience in professional football
We develop our software on the Linux platform using Python 2.6/2.7, Django/Flask web frameworks, and PostgreSQL database backends. We use R quite a bit as well as the numerical Python libraries. We have started to develop on Mac platforms, too. Python is our language of choice, but we’re always open to new languages and frameworks.
We are strong believers in learning — whether it’s understanding tactical formations, implementing a new statistical modeling algorithm, or learning a new language (computer or human). We are strong believers in automation — if it’s worth doing twice, it’s worth writing in a batch script. We believe very strongly in supporting the growing soccer analytics community by releasing some of our projects to open source. You can access them here. It’s a great way for prospective hires to contribute. We are also graduates of the Flashpoint startup accelerator and backed by investors in Atlanta, San Francisco and beyond.
We want people who can get stuff done, who get stuff done fast, and who are always willing to learn new skills and push their current skills into new directions. And if you are all these things and you love soccer, we definitely want to chat with you.
So if you want to submit your CV, please send it to jobs@soccermetrics.net. But before you send that CV, read this first.
