Mathematics and Sports session at 2017 Joint Mathematics Meeting

I’ve written about the Joint Mathematics Meeting on this blog over the last four years.  It is the largest mathematics conference in the world and draws researchers, educators, and other interested people on a full range of topics in mathematics and mathematics education and societal impact.  One session of interest to the sports analytics community is the Mathematics and Sports session, which has been organized by Drew Pasteur (College of Wooster) and Maj John David (Virginia Military Institute).

In 2017 the JMM will be in my hometown of Atlanta, so I won’t have much of an excuse not to be there.  If you want an idea of the type of papers that are accepted you can look at the typical call for papers and the archive from last year (search for “Mathematics in Sports” in the page).  The abstract deadline (1500 characters max) is 20 September and the conference is 4-7 January.  Hope to see you there.
